Our Faith

As a community of believers created in the image of God, we inspire and nurture a strong community of faith. Our Religion and Family Life Education programs impart the knowledge of our faith through Scripture, story and tradition. The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario, through the Institute for Catholic Education, provides curriculum policy documents which identify the expectations for each grade level and describe the knowledge and skills that students are expected to demonstrate. Prayer, liturgy and the celebration of the sacraments are opportunities to demonstrate our thankful awareness of God's presence in the world.

Social Justice

One of the most distinctive features of our Roman Catholic faith is our Church's rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching. Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love and justice. It holds that God has a special plan for every single one of us, whoever we are. Our part in this plan isn’t just limited to things ‘spiritual’, or times when we do “religious things.” It involves every aspect of our lives, from the things we pray about, to how we live as a responsible global citizen.

The Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations are another resource that provide a common language to bring a heightened sense of the distinctiveness and purpose of Catholic education.  The OCSGEs guide the journey of learning for all students in Catholic schools by articulating a vision of what the Catholic learner is becoming,

At St. Geneviève Catholic School we showcase our commitment to social justice through various initiatives (food drive, clothing drive, innovative recycling, diverting textile waste (connected to St. Paul the Apostle Parish). This year we selected 2 local organizations to support: St. Rita's and the Kingston Food Bank.
